ABILENE, Texas – The West Texas Center for Economic Opportunity, a partnership between United Way of Abilene, Dodge Jones Foundation and New Seed Initiative, continues its financial education programs with Money Power Hour, August 3, from 12:00 p.m. to 1 p.m, at 1102 N. 3rd Street.
The monthly, 1-hour event helps community members learn skills to become self-sufficient and achieve financial success. The event is free and does not require registration, but community members should bring their own lunch for the brown bag event.
This month features discussion with a local business owner who changed his financial picture after losing his job and having only $160 in his pocket.
Parking is available on North 3rd St. as well as in the parking lot east of the Abilene Public Library on Cedar Street.
Community members can now visit the center between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, for information regarding financial education, student financial aid assistance, credit counseling and small business support.
