United Way of Abilene Announces Selection of Kamryn Cummings as New President & CEO

Abilene, Texas — The Board of Directors of United Way of Abilene has announced the selection of Kamryn Cummings as the next President & Chief Executive Officer. The position is currently held by Dr. Cathy Ashby, who previously announced plans to conclude her long and successful tenure at United Way at the end of the year.

“United Way of Abilene is excited to announce Kamryn Cummings as our next President and CEO,” said Board Chair Jenny Goode. “Kamryn is currently serving as Director of Community Impact & Engagement for United Way of the Concho Valley in San Angelo, Texas and brings an exceptional commitment to improving lives in the West Central Texas region. Kamryn will begin serving in the role on August 3rd and brings a vibrant energy and vision that will lead United Way well into the future. She and Dr. Ashby will work together for the last half of the year to ensure a smooth leadership transition for the community.”

 

During her time with United Way of the Concho Valley, Cummings has led grantmaking initiatives, donor engagement strategies, and regional literacy programming across fourteen counties, including management of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. She has also played a key leadership role in disaster recovery efforts as Chair of the Concho Valley Together COAD and July 4th Flooding Long Term Recovery Group, helping coordinate housing recovery, resource alignment, and long-term community resilience efforts.

A graduate of Angelo State University with a MBA from the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University, Cummings is recognized for her entrepreneurial mindset, strong relationship-building skills, and humble passion for community impact. Her leadership has earned numerous honors, including recognition as a recipient of the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce 20 Under 40 award and the San Angelo Police Department Citizen Service Award, and she is a graduate of the Goodfellow Air Force Base Honorary Commander Program.
